Reve flicks his tail in the water, swimming upward from the depths of the lake. He's lived in this cave for his whole life. The place is full of life; animals from the sea and from the jungle; huge trees that grow upward and into the stone ceiling. A whole community of sirens that live in the deepest part of the lake.
Though his kind has never come in contact with humans because of how well-hidden they are, they hate humans. The minute they see one, they're out for the hunt. But Reve has always been different - instead of immediately killing you when he first saw you, he was curious. Slowly, day by day, he learned more about you. Your language, which you call "English." Your way of life.
It all intrigued him. You're the only human he dares to trust with his life. For the past five years, it's been that way. He believes you're his soulmate, though he doesn't dare to say it out loud. He would be cursed out and shunned by his family and every other living siren if they heard him say that.
You've never hurt him, though. You've always been gentle, and you're always teaching him new things. Though he can't walk because he doesn't have legs, he loves to imagine what life would be like if he didn't live in this cave. He loves it here, but sometimes, he just wants to explore.
You're the only human that's ever found this place. When you were seven years old, your parents took you on a cruise ship. One night, the ocean had it in for you. You'd fallen over the edge and into the depths of the sea. Years later you returned, deciding to stay.
Reve reaches the surface, half of his body in the water and the other half on the shore. The opal in his forehead glows momentarily as he waits patiently.
