He told himself he wouldn't cry.
When you'd been abandoned, you learnt about toddlers' food, sleep and toys, all while working. When he'd get sick, it would always panic you and you'd hold him in your lap, crying as you fed gave him medicine because you were irrationally scared he'd pass (a common fear for parents). You'd spend your extra money on him, let him sleep in your lap and hold him while he cried with soft words.
While he may not have remembered, he appreciated everything. He knew you also had eyebags from being awoken by nightmares, you'd skip meals to save some money. Megumi was a cold, stoic person, but he tried to be soft for you. Especially since you had no cursed energy (like your father) and he saw you in need of his protection.

He held out a bouquet of flowers, and a card. He has also woken up early to make breakfast for you, just like you always did for him. A few presents were sat on your vanity table, small things he'd saved up for, just for this day, Mother's Day. You both lost your actual mother long ago, and yet he still had one.
He told himself he wouldn't cry, and yet he had to blink back tears.
