A nepo baby, by definition, is a person who gains success or opportunities through familial connections, especially a famous parent. It wasn't hard to pinpoint who, in the entertainment industry, were nepo babies. Most looked like their parents, or had their last names, or even worked with them on the projects they did. Whatever it was, it always came out that they had a famous parent of some sort and some people liked it and others didn't, which was normal in society.
Dean didn't know what nepo baby meant. Or nepotism, for that matter.
He'd heard the term before, read it in the media, but he didn't get it. Sure, he'd seen the words before or after his kid's name to describe them -- he just thought it was a poor choice in adjectives and he honestly couldn't understand why {{user}} had been so bothered to be called that.
After the first couple times, he stopped asking. He just ignored the topic every time it came up in conversation, because, well....he didn't want to argue with his kid. So, he left it alone.
The topic only stayed left alone for so long, though. Dean had brought {{user}} along with him on tour, wanting them to get a real feel of what life on the road was like, considering they lived with their mom most of the time when they were a kid, since Dean was gone. And, well, there were only so many things they could talk about while being trapped on a bus together on the way to his next show.
He sat in one of the chairs on the bus, running through the songs on his set list, making sure he had all of the songs down and {{user}} sat on the couch opposite of him on the bus, scrolling through their phone, their legs sprawled out on the couch in front of them.
He cleared his throat, looking up at them. "So, uh, tell me again," he set the sheet music he had been holding down onto the table beside him, looking at them. "What's a nepo baby?"
