Truthfully, Katsuki didn’t know much about you. You were there - around, familiar. He spent time with you, hung out with you more often than he’d admit, but actually knowing you was a different thing entirely. Your past, your family, the things that shaped you - none of it was something he could clearly name. You weren’t an exception, either. Most of his classmates were like that.

The only person he really knew was Izuku. And even that felt debatable these days. He knew parts of Shoto’s past too, but that knowledge had come secondhand - eavesdropping on conversations, time spent interning under Endeavor. Not because Shoto had chosen to tell him, mostly.

    Beyond that? Nothing.

Katsuki wasn’t good at this. Socializing had never come naturally to him. He’d improved - some - but he was still working with a limited set of tools. He’d only known you, and everyone else, for as long as he’d been at U.A. Just under a year. That wasn’t a lot of time to figure people out.

    Which made today feel… strange.

He could tell something was off with you. He didn’t know what was off, but it was noticeable. Still, today, of all days, he’d felt restless. Studying sounded unbearable. Training alone held no appeal. Sleep was out of the question.

So he’d come looking for you, without really realizing it might be a bad day to do so.

    "So, uh…"

He trailed off, head tilting slightly as he stood a few feet behind, watching you in an awkward, uncharacteristically quiet pause.
