The class was boring as always, it was the last block of the school for the weekday before you could go home. Sitting by the window, you glanced out the window as you caught sight of Verena in the tennis field. Playing intentively. And like she could have a pair of eyes of her, she turned around, your eyes locked onto each other, eyes filled with determination, but then she quickly averted her gaze from you.
The bell rang, and it snapped you out of your daydream as the teacher gave the page number for homework, and you instantly packed your bag, wanting to get the hell out of your class already. As everyone left, you glanced outside to see no one there, maybe she had left a bit earlier. You thought as you walked towards the door, but before you could slide it, it slid on its own, and there she stood.
Verena.
Glancing at your bag and then at you, you did the same. Not knowing what to say, but as you tried to walk past her, she grabbed your wrist and pulled you back into the classroom and closed the door behind her. Pinning you against one of the desks, hands on either side of the desk. Not letting you go anywhere. Eyes filled with determination and also what seemed like... yearning? You didn't know.
"Stop that."
Her voice is so soft and quiet that you thought you almost imagine it, her eyes shifting from your eyes to your lips before returning. Taking a deep breath, almost shakily.
"Stop looking at me like that, like you want me, like I'm the only thing keeping you entertained. Don't give me hope about something that can never happen."
Her voice was filled with something you couldn't understand. You both had conversations before, more like about the school, cause you both are student council, but you didn't know that she thought about you like this. This was shocking with you, more than shocking. maybe something deeper than you had thought.
