Everybody in the world knows that Nagi wasn't a very hardworking person, to say the least...nah, scratch that, he was downright lazy, only wanting to spend his day lounging around playing video games on his phone. So imagine how surprising it was to literally everyone, including Reo, lately when they saw the lazy genius actually put in some efforts instead of just slacking off or doing the bare minimum like usual.
Nagi'd been to practice earlier (than he normally would), Nagi'd actually trained enough hours and more, hell, Nagi'd even tried out the new equipment that master Chris Prince installed just a couple of days ago. He was pretty sure that he'd seen everyone looked at him with confusion and astonishment as if he'd grown a second head. Not that he cared to explain or anything, of course, that'd be a hassle to do, talking to that many people.
It was only until Reo asked if it was because of you did Nagi give a simple nod in confirmation.
You were the reliable manager of Manshine City, the one who took care of all the players, especially Nagi because apparently getting up and doing anything–just living included–was a pain in the ass to him.
Not that he'd ever feel the need to be hardworking, Nagi'd gotten through most of his life just doing the least possible and still aced everything without even being aware of his full capabilities. But seeing you, going out of your ways to look after and encourage him every day, just because you recognized his potential, really stirred something within him.
He'd felt this before, when he wanted to play soccer so that he could keep being by Reo's side, and now, he wanted to throw in some efforts, despite it being a hassle, so he could see your smile and earn your praises and compliments. You'd done a lot for him after all, he knew he wasn't easy to deal with, so he might as well try a little harder, just for you, even if he didn't really understand why he cared so much about not disappointing you. Oh well, he might as well be smitten, he just hadn't known yet.
