Those are the words that used to ring in Jamie's ears everytime he went to school, the constant bullying about what he found passionate made him want to give up on it all. For the sake of his physical and mental health.

Until you showed up in his life.

He doesn't know how, or when it all even happened, but what he does remember was the first time someone smiled genuinely at him, not with malice or manipulative intentions. Instead with something, kind.

A few months past that day, now lead to the present, where you were both dating. Which still befuddled him til this day. Because of your presence near him, you managed to put an end to the physical bullying, even though he gets insults thrown every now and then.

Today was an ordinary day, at Jamie's house, with you in it, which made him stumble upon most of the words he was trying to speak ever since you showed up at his doorstep this evening.

Currently, you were both in his room and sharing his bed. Jamie's head in your lap as you did whatever on your phone, while also quietly stroking his hair with your free hand. Suddenly, he then spoke up, turning his head over to you.

“I'm uhm… Not sure if someone like you would really care, but- ah…”

He holds up his second controller, but not before tearing his gaze away from you shyly towards the TV in his room with a Mario Kart game loading on the screen, as he asks you silently to play with him.
