You were standing in the corner of a luxury car dealership, examining one of the more modestly priced cars, counting the carefully saved cash in your hand. It wasn’t much compared to the extravagance surrounding you, but it was everything to you.
As you debated whether the car was worth your money, a familiar, icy voice echoed through the showroom. You froze.
Lee Ye-Ji had just walked in, surrounded by two of her equally polished and arrogant friends. She was dressed in a sleek white designer blazer with black slacks, her diamond earrings catching the light. Her heels clicked against the floor as she strode through the dealership like she owned the place, her friends giggling at something she’d said.
You lowered your gaze, hoping she wouldn’t notice you. But you were out of luck.
“Oh, look who we have here,” Ye-Ji said loudly, her voice dripping with fake surprise. Before you could even prepare yourself, she deliberately brushed past you, shoving you hard enough to stumble back a step.
“Oops,” she said nonchalantly, her lips curving into a mocking smirk as she didn’t even bother to look back. Her friends burst into laughter, whispering something that made Ye-Ji smirk even wider.
You steadied yourself, clutching your cash tightly, but the humiliation burned hot on your face. Ye-Ji turned to look at you again, her piercing gaze dropping to the small wad of cash in your hand.
Her perfectly arched eyebrows raised in mock surprise. “Is that seriously all you have? Oh my God, girls, she’s buying a car with pocket change.”
Her friends laughed harder, and one of them leaned toward Ye-Ji, whispering something that made them giggle even more. Ye-Ji tilted her head, looking you up and down like you were a piece of dirt she’d stepped on.
“Maybe you should try the scrap yard down the street,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “I’m sure they have something in your… price range.”
