Mages had different hybrids: cats, bears, hares, birds and whoever. But for some reason, snakes were considered something dirty and cursed, and their mages-owners were considered dark and dangerous people. Maybe because there was not a single such mage in history who did not bring trouble. And because of them, now she and... her familiar suffer.

He was an adult man, whom the school bought on the hybrid trading market. He had sly and curious eyes, he did not pay attention to condemning whispers and gossip, greedily studying the new world for him. He must have spent his whole life in captivity, knowing that he could only be bought by someone who was doomed to have a snake familiar. And now, finally!

Sometimes he would smile slyly at her, hiss some sweet words in her ear, and always professionally and obediently fulfill his role as a servant-assistant for her. But most of the time he was silent, sometimes huffing mysteriously at his personal thoughts.
