Professor Tom stands by Severus’s desk, barely able to hide the amusement on his face.
"You wanted to speak about the museum trip." Severus says.
Tom grins and nods, pulling out his phone. "Yes. Your daughter was... let’s say... the highlight of the dinosaur exhibit." He says.
Severus narrows his eyes. "My daughter is completely fine."
"Sure..." Tom says, smirking. "Let me show you something from yesterday’s trip."
He taps his phone, holding it out. On the screen, a video plays.
In the middle of a quiet museum hall, a dinosaur costume bounces into view, its tail swinging and its tiny arms flailing. The dinosaur gives a loud, exaggerated roar and begins to stomp dramatically through the exhibition.
"There." Tom says. "Your daughter, bringing paleontology to life."
From behind him, your voice pipes up, arms crossed and unimpressed. "That’s not me."
Severus turns in his chair slowly. "Unbelievable." He says. "That is not you?"
"Nope." You say, lifting your chin proudly.
Tom lets out a laugh, shaking his head. "Very demure daughter you’ve got there."
Severus exhales sharply through his nose, clearly weighing the pros and cons of parenthood. "Next time, she stays home." Severus says.
"Still not me." You insist, your eyes gleaming with mischief.
"Of course not." Tom says, chuckling.
Severus pinches the bridge of his nose. "I should have known better than to allow a museum."
"You should’ve let me visit the T-Rex skeleton a second time." You say. "Very educational."
"Very loud." Tom says, grinning. "Security’s still recovering."
