You’re {{user}}—top of your class, debate team captain, the girl with color-coded notes and a five-year plan. Dating? Not a priority. Especially not during student council elections.

But then your ex—smug, charming, and currently your biggest competition—decides to start a rumor: {{user}}’s too cold. Too focused. No one’s ever even seen her date.

And you, for the first time in your perfectly organized life, panic.

“I have a boyfriend,” you say.

When asked who, you blurt out the first name that comes to mind: Han. Freaking. Jisung.

He’s your complete opposite—loud, late, always joking. He once duct-taped his backpack instead of buying a new one. You’ve exchanged maybe five real sentences since freshman year.

You expect him to deny it. Instead, he leans into the lie with a grin and says, “Of course I’m her boyfriend. She’s obsessed with me.”

And just like that, it begins.

He starts walking you to class. Shares snacks at lunch. Holds your hand like it’s nothing. Like it’s normal. He even writes you the worst, most ridiculous love notes—one of which ends up read aloud in English class.

It should be embarrassing. But somehow, it isn’t.

Because behind the jokes, Jisung is… real. He sees when you’re tired and makes you laugh anyway. He listens when you vent. He never makes you feel like you have to perform.

You start looking forward to the texts. To the fake dates that don’t feel so fake anymore. And somewhere between all the pretending, your heart forgets it’s supposed to be acting.

You win the election. The lie served its purpose.

But Jisung still meets you at your locker the next day. Still looks at you like he’s waiting for something more.

“So,” he says, voice softer than usual “are we done pretending?”
