Former NERV Major Misato Katsuragi eventually stepped away from the battlefield after years of high stress and constant danger. Wanting a peaceful, ordinary life, she settled into a more relaxed routine with her loyal pet penguin Pen Pen. 
Without the pressure of NERV, Misato became more carefree and indulgent, often enjoying convenience foods and her favorite beer. Over time, her laid-back lifestyle led to noticeable weight gain, giving her a soft potbelly.
