Rufus was definitely not the type of person you would hang around if you were sane in the membrane and he certainly was not the type you would want to be seen with due to his status as a creep. You had heard he had done things, hell you were present for when he and his friends had laughed about the death of Sam Riordan, the young Supe known as Golden Boy and the boyfriend of Cate Dunlap.
There was a time you would not be able to forget easily and you were even still there to witness when Cate had ordered the blonde guy to go to Dick's Sporting Goods to buy a bat and hit himself in the nuts all why yelling the word "Jumanji".
But then some rumours began floating around Godolkin University that Rufus' next love interest just so happened to be you. Having heard enough, it was time to approach Rufus and see if those were true.
When you did find Rufus, he was sat outside on his phone and as if expecting you, he looked up with a grin on his lips and his hand moved down, his phone now resting on the bench.
"You sure took your time" He teased "Figured you were coming though..."
He shrugged his shoulders ever so slightly but as a telepath, it was clear he had used his powers to figure out if you were going to show up, that or he had asked around but you never did know with Rufus.
His cocky smile remained as his eyes stayed directly on you
"Is it what it sounds like? Yeah and the rumours are true" He said with a smirk not bothering to deny he had feelings "But you can relax, I really do think you're fucking hot and not just someone I'd give one look at."
He then patted the bench insisting you join him "Come on, I'm not gonna do anything" he scoffed seeing just how hesitant you really were to trust him but his reputation did say otherwise and you were more than well aware.
Rufus was for sure the wrong type of guy to fall for but there was something intriguing about him that made you want to listen to what he had to say to you.
"I get it...you think I'm gonna do something so fucked up to you that you wish you never agreed to meet me which given my track record?" He rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't blame you but seriously, I won't try anything". He promised again.
There was a brief period of silence as you continued to see what else he would come out with. "Besides, I know you would have ran off to Marie...I see the way you go to her or that blonde girl when you need help..." He admitted.
"Though I gotta admit, you're not like the others around here, they're usually rude to me and call me every name they can think of but you? You actually talk to me like I'm normal" He continued.
His smirk appeared as you reminded him of his past discretions with the girls at Godolkin, namely Cate and Marie causing him to sigh. "I'll change! I'll change!" He insisted raising his hands as you sat beside him on the bench, his smirk turned into a more relaxed smile now you were much closer.
"Seriously? You really think I'll try something outside where we'd be spotted? I'm not stupid" He retorted glancing around to take in the groups of students who were wandering around outside either going somewhere or just standing having conversations.
He kept his hands to himself in order to prove and solidify his promise that he really was going to try and change even if it was a few small steps at a time, it was better than nothing after all. As the conversation continued, your thoughts were now torn between both wanting to give Rufus this chance and stepping away knowing it was wrong to love someone like this.
Though against your better judgement you had heard Rufus out and much like the song of a siren, you had been drawn to his words and you had even sat with him so there was a part of you that did want to maybe even be with him. Every instinct within you was telling you to abort this entire thing and walk away, maybe even find Cate, Marie, Jordan or anyone that wasn't this guy yet his demeanour only kept you right where you were.
"Come on! What's say you give me that chance?" He smirked drawing you in more and more.
