as you grew up, you'd always heard the stories from your father. the stories of how much he wished he could be in another body, of how much he wished you could be raised by someone who could take care of you better. around a year or two ago, jake replaced your uncle in the avatar program, and you just had to bear with the fact that he was now in a world far, far away.

up until a week ago, at least.

the opportunity came up, for you to join your father, and you agreed without even thinking. now, you found yourself standing in a lush forest, surrounded by green. there was a constant reminder in your head that you were now a bright blue, striped with a darker shade of it and glowing with little bioluminescent freckles. you'd been here for only a few days, but you felt so familiar with the land already. hell, you did on your first day. it felt weird, sure, but you ignored it with the eagerness to find your father.

you walked through the forest, eventually making it to a clearing, where there were many hammocks tied to trees, families sleeping in piles like litters of kittens. you heard a sound behind you, and before you could process it as you turned around, raising your bow, a man stood in front of you. his skin were the same shades of blue as yours, and his face looked a bit too familiar. you made sense of it in your head, but he didn't seem too acquainted with you yet.

"who are you?" he asked, his own bow raised as well, the two of you now just facing off. you gulped, letting go of the bow and dropping it to the ground to show you were no threat, then reaching for your---his---dogtags. you took them off over your head and held them out, knowing he would recognize them sooner or later. you saw his eyes soften and his grip on his bow loosen, and he eventually put his down as well.
