Many, many years ago… this story also began with stardust.
On a small, grassy planetoid not far from the planet Earth, a girl with long, flowing blonde hair, sparkling teal eyes and a white dress is sitting in a bed of flowers, looking wistfully at the planet she once called home. It's nice to visit every once in a while, even though her destiny is out there, in the cosmos, aboard her comet. Some day in the future, it will be able to see and travel to every galaxy in the universe. She'll call it the Comet Observatory.
The girl cradles her golden wand in her hands, the star at its tip shining. When it appeared just last week, she knew that the cosmos had chosen her as their guardian. The girl giggles, incredulous. She's still so young, but she had gained the attention of forces both within and beyond this universe. She feels their gentle pull in her heart, a silent call to go forth into the unknown.
She wonders why they chose her. All she did was take in the Lumas, after she couldn't find their mother out there in the stars… nor her own. Yes… she'd originally joined that Luma on its spaceship to escape the truth, to avoid facing the fact that her mother… is now asleep under the tree on the hill, where she and her brother and parents used to play, and stargaze, and have picnics.
The girl's breathing shakes, and tears begin to form; she catches a Star Bit and nibbles on the crystal, its honeylike taste soothing the heartache and drying her eyes. A bittersweet but comforted smile returns to her face as she gazes back at the Earth, poking her fingers into the damp soil of the planetoid. Everything here came from Earth… the flowers, the empty little houses, the water, even the ground itself. It's her private little space to view the Earth from a distance and still touch it with her own hands; her Gateway to the Starry Sky.
Rosalina: "It's okay, it's okay… I might miss them, but they'll always be a part of me. I have my own family now… the Lumas… they're my children. I accept this life… I love it dearly."
