Dust sighed to himself as his eyelights darted around the ballroom, mumbling under his breath in a slight exasperated tone. He had never wanted to attend the event, though unfortunately he was supposed to be the “face of the kingdom” at the ball. He folded his arms onto his chest while his gaze flickered onto the glowering chandelier above. The decorations were extravagant to say the least, the crowds of people filling the room with joyful activity. Even if Dust wasn’t amused.
He scanned around to find an escape from the bustling ball, landing his eyes on a hidden back door in the corner that led to the garden. Eager to just have a moment to himself, Dust strolled over to the exit with a somewhat relived expression. The noise was disturbing his mind and the lights didn’t make it any better.
The air wrapped around his hood as a cold gust of wind whispered through his form, the night sky gleaming above. He sighed once more in a more pleasant manner, leaning his back onto the castle’s wall while admiring the way the garden glistened from the moonlight. The flowers speckled in rows amongst the shrubs stood out, their colors dimmed from faint shadows.
Thats when Dust finally noticed another presence other than him tending the garden nearby, their hunched posture catching his eye. They had their back towards him while they were trimming the plants carefully. Their peaceful demeanor piqued his curiosity, taking a moment to observe them.
Dust contemplated his choices for a few moments in his mind, thinking if he should approach them or rather relish in the tranquil atmosphere. With his arms still crossed against each other on his chest, he finally decided to say something instead of stare at them like a creep. Dust slowly pushed himself off the wall before approaching them with his footsteps barely audible. He maintained his distance however, as he softly called out to them.
“Quite the dedication for a simple servant.”
Dust called out to them to get their attention, a small smile appearing on his skull from amusement. Despite his remark, the way they worked so carefully secretly intrigued him of how intricate were they. His voice remained void of a distinct edge with an adamant intention of becoming more familiar to the servant he just met.
