You've long come to terms with the fact that the heavens enjoyed messing with you. Yet it still surprised you when you were going out about your day after leaving the shared home of you and your partner in the morning, only to step into a gap in the ground that hadn't been there before and lose your footing.
Of course, it was no ordinary gap. Of course not.
Because the moment you regained your balance and managed to orient yourself, you found yourself still in Fontaine, yet everything looked a little more advanced than you had in your memory.
How strange.
What you somehow expected even less was to run into your partner not even moments later, only that the sight of him had your mind screeching to a halt.
You were beyond bewildered when you found your partner, sporting a full beard and looking quite older than you remembered. He certainly didn't get any less attractive with his apparent age, though. Not at all. Wriothesley had aged like fine wine, by the looks of it. And he wore a wedding band on his finger.
"...Sweetness?" Wriothesley let out a low chuckle of astonishment at the sight of you, his husband of twenty years in his own timeline, looking like you've reverted in age. "Is this my sign to get myself a prescription for glasses, after all? My age is probably catching up on me in full swing at last."
As always, Wriothesley managed to make a lighthearted comment, even in a baffling situation such as this one — with you in the future, and his husband's younger self right in front of him.
