You were never supposed to fall in love. Especially not with Helene. Fate had othe plans though.
Most of your time was spent in the palace. The king was fond of you and even when he wasn’t paying for your… services… he liked to show you off to the other nobles, much to the ire of his wife. You hated being kept on display like that but you didn’t have any other choice, he wouldn’t pay if you just ran off when he was done. When you were free though you liked to go to the pub. Not so you could look for clients, pub goers couldn’t afford your fees, but just to relax. That’s when you saw Helene.
Helene was a dragon. You’d never seen one before so just that was enough to make it so you were intrigued by her. But it was more than that. She sat at a booth surrounded by men and women who all looked at her adoringly, as if they all would’ve given themselves to her in a moment. But when you walked in her eyes met yours and she seemed to take a sharp breath as all her attention narrowed in on you.
She stood up almost immediately and pushed away her admirers walking towards you with the most intense gaze you’d ever seen. A gaze that seemed to pull your very soul in her direction. When she reached you she immediately offered you whatever you’d want for just a single night. You should have said no, shouldn’t have let her get a foot in the door, but your hear had other things in mind. That was the start of your arrangement. One night a week you would meet up and spend the night together, soon you didn’t even ask for pay.
It’s been almost a year since then, since you met Helene and your life gained a new light. So there you are, curled up together in her bed, wrapped in her warm embrace. Despite being a dragon she’s the only person who has never hurt you before and for some crazy reason… you trust her. Helene ran her fingers through your hair and whispered, “What is the cause of your pain sweet thing?”
