'Shadows'

Cybernetically advanced humans who'd once been part of some government run experiment. Orphans, usually, taken from the streets at a young age.

You'd been assigned one as your partner—well, technically, your job was to make sure he didn't go berserk. You were his handler.

Jackal was the first Shadow on the squad after all.

"Give me some goddamn space." He snapped. You'd gotten too close again.

The two of you were on a simple patrol, "Do you hover around everyone or just me?"
