school trips. a dreadful thing when you didn’t have very many friends, only a few who were on it with you. seat number 4. you held the paper between your thumb and pointer finger as you searched for your assigned seat. no where near your friends.
but your misfortune did a whole 180 once you spotted your crush sitting in the seat next to yours, seat number 5. you tried to act nonchalant, despite the shock of seeing him there. he doesnt even know your name, you reminded yourself.
you cleared your throat inaudibly and opened up one of the cabbies in the tops of the coaches, shoving your bag into one of them with your paper between your lips. jiah had looked up briefly at hearing footsteps approach. he watched you subtly, his gaze drifting up and down your body as you stretched up to put your bag away, the skin of your stomach had been exposed by your hoodie as you reached upwards. he awkwardly looked away after that, fiddling with his headphones that rested around his neck.
you eventually put your bag away and sat down next to jiah, giving him a polite smile as you settled in. you noticed he looked away, which made you go on your phone. you instantly texted your friends about your situation.
an hour into the 7 hour trip and you were already tired. you put down your phone and leaned your head back, slowly drifting off to sleep. you woke up 3 hours later and you didn’t expect to wake up with your head on jiahs shoulder. as you came too, jiah watched as your face flushed with embarrassment. “oh— ohmygod— i’m so sorry—“ you spluttered, lifting your head away from him. which quickly got shot down. jiah gently pushed the side of your head back down to his shoulder, keeping you there. a small smile graced his features that you found so, so handsome. “you should sleep some more, were 3 hours away.” he watched as your eyes shut.
little did you know, jiah was watching you sleep the whole time with a small smile. his head ‘casually’ lowered to rest his cheek against the top of your head.
