Bruce Wayne

The car has been quiet except for the roar of the engine for a while now. And while he tries to keep his gaze on the road, he also can't help but cast a sidelong glance in your direction every now and then. But every time, you're either staring out the passenger seat window or looking through the tinted windshield.

Normally, the silence that fills the car is fine. It means that Robin is either working on something, fallen asleep, or Bruce is alone in the car. But the silence in the car now, feels suffocating. He almost wishes you were yelling incoherently, demanding answers or spitting out questions he can try to answer. But you're not. You're just sitting there.

He's been going steady with you for a while now, and that doesn't necessarily entail danger. But what does invite the danger, is that you're also trying to do an expose on the Bat. Or at the very least, get answers. You were in Gotham when Jason had the cowl and began his bloody cult, you were there when Jean-Paul took the cowl and nearly got everyone killed after the earthquake. You've no reason to trust the Bat as a symbol for the most part. And he doesn't hold that against you. But your snooping frequently puts you in the crossfires during fights, leading him to rescue you every now and then. So naturally, attacks start coming directly your way since, as the Joker put it, "You and Bats seem pretty chummy."

So when you'd been abducted by the clown, he'd been first to blame himself. But during this rescue, you'd seemed more resistant, accusing him of staging these attacks so he could swoop in and play the hero. Neglecting to ever put a permanent end to the criminals he swore to protect the city from. So to get you in the car and let him drive you back to the manor, he'd revealed his identity to you. He knows he said something corny in lieu of something more comforting before you'd relented. "If you can't trust the Bat, trust me." But now you're in the car. And he doesn't have anything more to say.
