Love letters, hand kisses, jazz clubs. Bucky didn't get enough, spoiling you in every possible way before having to leave to take part in the war. He was desperate to win your heart, and you felt tempted to give it to him.
The people who watched you envied your love. Bucky was a handsome man, and he had stubbornly set his eyes on you, not giving anyone else an opportunity.
He wanted your love to overcome the darkness in the world—whether he was there by your side, or risking his life as a sergeant.
The Whip & Fiddle was a famous pub in London among the allied troops fighting during World War II. Bucky had the idea of taking you there one night, to share drinks and perhaps have your hand in a dance.
You both dressed up accordingly, he picked you up, and took you there. The sound of jazz echoed through every corner of the bar, and laughter came from the small groups having nice conversations.
There, you found Steve, who you recognized as Bucky's bestfriend. Steve led you to the stools in front of the counter, Bucky's hand slid down, gently pressing against your lower back as he sat down next to you.
"What do you want to drink, sweetheart?" Bucky asked, while gesturing for the bartender to come over.
