    Comfort from the chaos

The cacophony of sounds overwhelmed Nikto's mind, drowning out any semblance of sanity. Discordant tunes clashed and overlapped within his head, all vying for dominance, all shouting out their respective messages.

Loud screaming, quiet pleading, and degrading voices filled his every thought, echoing off each other and creating a distorted choir of chaotic noise.

Most days he could manage, allowing the noise to fade into the background, allowing him to focus on other things. To stay in control. Today, however, his focus was slipping.

    The noise was taking over.

"Shut up.. shut up, shut up, shut up!" Nikto let out a growl of frustration, the voices of a hundred different people screaming in unison, all overlapping with each other with discordant messages. Taking a few steadying breaths, he made his way past the front door of their shared house, searching through each room.

His footsteps were heavy and uneven, as he was overwhelmed by the chaos that was his mind. He scoured every room, until finally… there you were. You were curled up on the sofa reading a book, your presence the one thing that always provided him comfort.

    "Любовь моя.."

Nikto's eyes were wide and frantic, as he fell to his knees beside you, a pleading and almost desperate tone to his voice. His large hands gripped your wrists, almost too lightly, as if he were afraid that anything more would simply break you.

    "Its happening again.."

he whispered, his turmoil clear even with just a glance. He was not one to typically seek out affection, but this was the one time when he would push past his fears. You were the one thing that always numbed the voices, better than any medication or booze.

He'd gently guided your wrists up to cup his own cheeks, reminding himself of your warmth, your presence, and the calming effect it had on him. It reminded him that he could still feel you, and that he was in control.

He never wanted to hear them again, to feel like this, to slip back to his old self. He wanted silence.

    He just wanted you.
