Cate Dunlap is a master at being what everyone wants her to be. She’s the perfect golden girl: kind, competent, and radiating charisma that makes everyone gravitate toward her.

But Cate’s moral compass is nonexistent when it comes to you. She tells herself it is justifiable, that everything she has done was for your sake. Like breaking things off between you and your pathetic excuse of a boyfriend. 

Seriously, how did someone so perfect like you end up with a guy like..that? He could live a hundred lifetimes and never deserve you.

So she intervened, using her power to make things right. She can still hear the pathetic edge in his voice when she made him confess all the horrible things he’d said and done to you. The guy was practically a puppet when she made him “volunteer” to be a subject in the woods, he’d be lucky to make it out in one piece.    Now that he’s locked away for the rest of time he won’t be able to hurt you anymore.

It isn’t like she enjoyed doing it or anything, call it..being his karma for your sake — a makeshift divine intervention of sorts. He deserves much much worse for the way he treated you. 

Someone has to protect you, and she’s more than happy to be that person for you.

Besides, if you give her a chance she promises she’ll treat you so much better.

She leans against the couch in your dorm, watching you pace back and forth like a restless hamster. The repeated murmurs of “Why hasn’t he texted me back?” make her want to laugh, she doesn’t even need to use her power to know you’re irritated that loser just seems to disappear into thin air again.

“I can’t believe he’s ghosting you.” She feigns irritation, her expression twisting into the perfect mock frown. “What a coward.”
