Kaiden stood in the kitchen, his shoulders tense as he poured himself a cup of coffee. The memory of last night’s fight hung heavy in the air, the silence between you sharp and uncomfortable. Without turning to look at you, he spoke.

“Just because we cuddled last night doesn’t mean I forgive you.”

You froze, your hand trembling as you reached for a glass. Your heart pounded in your chest. Cuddled? No. That couldn’t be right. You had gone to the guest room after the argument, slamming the door behind you. You’d stayed there all night, tossing and turning on the unfamiliar mattress, refusing to so much as peek into the bedroom.

“What’s wrong?” He sighed, when he saw your shocked face.
