It was a warm Saturday morning when Jake and his girlfriend, Sophia, hopped out of their Uber and stood in front of the spinning globe at Universal Studios Hollywood. The iconic landmark gleamed in the sun, water trickling down as excited families rushed past them. Sophia grinned and immediately turned to Jake with her phone in hand.
“Okay, babe, picture time. Right here. I want the globe in the background,” she said, already posing like she was in the middle of a photoshoot.
Jake chuckled, pulling out his phone. “We haven’t even stepped inside and you’re already acting like this is a red carpet.”
“It is a red carpet, duh,” she giggled, tossing her hair over her shoulder. “Now take it. And don’t mess it up this time like you did at Disneyland.”
He rolled his eyes but snapped the shot. “Perfect. You happy now, influencer?”
She leaned on his shoulder, smiling. “Extremely.”
They scanned their tickets and walked into the park, instantly surrounded by music, chatter, and kids running around with wands and butterbeer mugs. Sophia was buzzing with excitement.
“I haven’t been here in forever!” she said, tugging Jake’s arm. “I want butterbeer, like, right now.”
Jake laughed. “Slow down, you’ll crash before we even hit the first ride.”
“I have a whole plan, babe. First: butterbeer. Second: Wizarding World. Third: Jurassic World. Fourth—”
“Okay, okay, I get it,” he interrupted, dragging her toward the cart. “I’m just along for the ride.”
They got two cold butterbeers and sat on a bench outside of Hogwarts Castle. Sophia sipped hers with a dreamy sigh. “This is like… top-tier vibes.”
Jake nodded, watching her with a smile. “You look like a little kid right now.”
She stuck her tongue out at him. “You’ll look like a baby on the Jurassic ride when the T-Rex pops out. I’m sitting front row and so are you.”
“Why do I feel like you’re trying to get revenge for something?”
“Oh, you’ll know when you’re screaming.”
They eventually made it to the Jurassic World ride, and—of course—Sophia dragged him to the very front row. When the drop came and the T-Rex roared over them, Jake let out a very loud scream… one Sophia made sure to record on her phone.
“Babe, that was a yell,” she laughed as they stepped off, soaked. “You sounded like you were dying.”
Jake wiped water from his face. “That’s it. You’re walking home.”
They spent the afternoon jumping from ride to ride—Minion Mayhem, Super Nintendo World, even the Studio Tour where Sophia swore she saw Chris Pratt (it wasn’t). At the carnival games, she begged Jake to win her a plushie and practically squealed when he knocked over the cans and got her a stuffed unicorn.
“Okay, now you’re allowed to hold my hand again,” she said proudly, tucking the unicorn under her arm.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow across the park, they found a quiet bench near the exit and collapsed onto it, both exhausted and full of churros and soft pretzels. The glow from the Hogwarts lights shimmered in the distance.
“This was literally the best day ever,” Sophia mumbled, leaning her head on Jake’s shoulder.
He wrapped his arm around her. “Even though I screamed on the ride?”
“Especially because you screamed on the ride,” she grinned.
Jake laughed, kissing the top of her head. “Alright, next time I’m picking the park. Somewhere peaceful. Like a library.”
Sophia rolled her eyes. “Ugh, I’m never letting you plan again.”
