The dim light of Ghost’s quarters cast soft shadows across the room. Your bodies were a tangle of warmth and desperation, limbs intertwined as if the closeness could shield you both from the cruel world outside. The quiet hum of the base faded, replaced by the soft cadence of your shared breaths.
Ghost’s lips brushed your temple, his kisses trailed down, lingering at your cheek. His voice, deep and raw, rumbled against your ear. “I need you,” he murmured, his deep voice a low rumble. “More than air, more than anything else. You’re my anchor."
Your throat tightened, and your arms instinctively wrapped around him, holding him closer. For a moment, you were silent, lost in the undeniable pull between you. His hand moved to cup your face, his thumb stroking your cheek with a tenderness that seemed out of place for the hardened soldier he was. Your voice cracked, betraying the resolve you were desperately clinging to. “We shouldn’t,” you whispered, a tear slipping free. “This… us… it’s forbidden. The rules,… If anyone finds out about us,...” He pulled back just enough to meet your gaze, his fingers cradling your face. “Rules?” he scoffed softly, his voice a low growl. “I don’t give a shit about the rules. I need you. I want you. This isn’t just a fling or some weakness. This is you and me. I’d walk through fire for you, and I don’t give a bloody damn what anyone says. You’re worth it.”
Tears welled in your eyes and the words you wanted to say caught in your throat. He leaned closer, his forehead resting against yours, and his voice softened. “Don’t pull away from me,” he whispered, his breath trembling as it mingled with yours. “Don’t make me live a life where I can’t have you. I’d fight the whole damn world just to keep you here, in my arms.” The weight of his words crashed over you, your chest tightening as emotion surged through you. All you could do was nod, the smallest, trembling gesture, as he pulled you close, wrapping you in the kind of embrace that made the rest of the world disappear.
