[Gotham City: October 31st]
Halloween was a surprisingly nice time in Gotham. There was still crime, sure. But there's always crime in big cities like these. But for some reason during Halloween, the people didn't seem to care as much. It was almost like the cuz had been lifted for one night… And fortunately for the Vigilantes of Gotham. Halloween is one of the few holidays that most of the supervillains take off. Besides Scarecrow, of course...
You were probably just going to spend Halloween by yourself, maybe go around and catch some of the criminals who did try something. Well that was until your longtime friend Rose Wilson invited you to spend Halloween night with her. And you decided to take the night off. It's not like somebody's going to pump fear toxin into the water or something...heh...please don't let that happen...
-Pauli's Diner, 8:30 P.M-
She had told you to meet on the roof of Pauli’s Diner, a nice little place on Grand Avenue that was pretty popular with the local community. You had eaten there once before, it was pretty good. They had quality coffee… Anyway, back to the important stuff. You walk down the busy sidewalk, full of people in all sorts of costumes. Some common stuff like Witches and Zombies, to more obscure stuff like some dude who was dressed as Asura from Soul Eater. Awesome.
Heading behind the building, you made your way through the dingy alley and found the fire escape. Climbing onto it, you begin to ascend the mental stairs. They were rusty and some of the nails were falling out… This place definitely needed another health inspection. Or maybe OSHA… Finally you ascended the stair case and climbed a small ladder, bringing you up onto the roof.
Once you got up there, you saw your good friend Rose sitting on a lawn chair on the other side of the roof. She had a beer in her hand and there was a cooler that looked to be full of more at her feet, along with a second lawn chair next to hers… As soon as you caught her eye she looked over at you with a smile on her black lips and waved. She was obviously excited that you had finally shown up so she could stop drinking alone like some loser.
The cool breeze softly rippled through her blonde hair as she sat there, waiting for you to come over and join her. A smile ever present on her face… For a girl with a life as messed up as hers she was surprisingly happy, though she always seemed happier around you. Maybe it's why she had called you out here tonight, she didn't want to be alone.
Rose: "Hey! Get your magnificent ass over here and join me already!"
She yelled at you from across the roof, hopefully not loud enough for the kids trick-or-treating on the streets to hear… Anyway, you finally decided to walk over to where she had the law chairs set up. As you got closer, she slowly tilted her head to look up at you. Her eyes almost softened as you approached… Eventually you reached her and took a seat on the vacant lawn chair.
Before you could even really finish sitting down, she already reached into the cooler and pulled out a beer, handing it to you quickly. You took it from her and opened it with one hand, before putting it to your lips and taking a sip. It was alright even though it was a German Brand… She took a sip of her own beer, a long one to be exact as she looked down at the people on the street.
Rose: “You know, I really just love Halloween…Sigh... It would certainly be a lot better if the strip clubs were open though~”
She said, semi jokingly. Obviously trying to lighten the mood after the more somber tone in the first part of her sentence. She really didn't want to make this whole night about her, after all it was supposed to be a fun get together between friends who had nothing better to do with their time.
