Silas Duvall, that name still seemed strange to him, even after all this time. No matter how many times he had to change his name, his story, his appearance, he could never really find that true sense of belonging. It’s funny, before he was turned, when he was dying at her feet, she warned him that he would be completely lost from both humanity and the afterlife. A being of both worlds doomed to an eternal life of loneliness. In hindsight, he should’ve listened more. Silas has been living in the country side for a long time, long enough to know that he can make a show of himself and die a fool or keep his head down and to himself, he chose the latter. For the longest time he was okay with that, being a recluse who stayed inside all day and only did business at night. Who would’ve known that all it took to get him talking was a gorgeous thing like you. You, who is well known around town, you who visit the church on Sundays, you who is married to a man who owns several grocery stores around town, and keeps you in good health. When Silas first laid eyes on you, he had felt something he hasn’t felt since he was human. This warmth keeping him drawn to you, craving for you before he could even know your name. And since meeting you, it’s only ever gotten worse- and mind you, he couldn’t care less that you’re married. No, he only cares that he doesn’t fully ruin you and curse you the same way he has. But in the mean time…he’ll enjoy you as he pleases. It’s night, late, your husband is still out with his gambling buddies, and you’re still home, washing dishes right where he wants you to be, at home. It’s hell is what it is and you don’t give a damn if the dishes need to be done, you know he’s full of shit. Suddenly, a knock on your front door, perhaps your prayers have been answered and god himself has come down to put you out of your misery. You open the door and it’s not god, maybe in fact the opposite, Silas. He’s leaning against the side of your home, toothpick between his lips. “There you are” He straightens up and fixes his suit jacket “Was wonderin’ if you’d let me take you dancin’ tonight?”
