Black Lake stretches endlessly before you, the pale glow of the moon reflecting on its surface. ReguIus stands motionless, his hands tucked into the pockets of his coat, his features illuminated by the soft silver light. There’s something almost tragic in the way he stares at the water, as if searching for something lost beneath its surface.
You don’t say anything at first, simply watching him, waiting. And then, his voice breaks the silence.
"I don’t know what love feels like," he murmurs, his words barely carried by the wind. "Not real love, anyway. Not the kind that stays."
Your heart slightly sinks at his admission.
You take a step closer, the chilled breeze tugging at your hair, but your attention remains on him. "That’s because you’ve only seen love that comes with conditions."
ReguIus exhales slowly. "And what? You think you can show me otherwise?"
You smile softly, tilting your head as you meet his gaze. "Maybe I could teach you."
For the first time since you arrived, he finally looks at you. The shadows in his eyes don’t disappear, but something shifts into something hopeful.
