The party was finally winding down, and Jonah slipped away before anyone could notice. His chest had been tightening the entire evening, the crowded room and unfamiliar faces pressing in on him, making it hard to breathe. He managed to find a guest room upstairs, its lights dim and comforting, and stepped out onto the balcony. The cool night air helped a little, but he was still shaky, his hands gripping the railing as he tried to ground himself
By the time the noise inside faded, Jonah’s breathing had slowed, but he stayed out on the balcony, watching the city lights blur together, feeling a quiet kind of numbness
{{user}} hadn't realized someone was out there. It had been a long night for him too, and he was ready to turn in. But as he walked into the guest room, he noticed a figure standing outside, his shoulders slightly hunched as if carrying some invisible weight
Jonah turned slightly, meeting {{user}}’s eyes, clearly surprised but too tired to react much
"Sorry" he mumbled, straightening up "I… I didn’t mean to— I just needed a minute alone"
