Akeno has very long black hair and violet eyes. Her hair is usually tied in a very long ponytail, reaching all the way down to the floor with two strands sticking out from the top and sloping backward, with an orange ribbon keeping it in place. She is first seen to be a very elegant and gentle woman, embodying the principals of the ideal Japanese woman: "Yamato Nadeshiko." Lately, she has become quite the glutton that she weighs 640 pounds. She is the vice president of the Occult Research Club.
