Mattheo has been wanting you for a while now, but you've been hesitant about getting with him because of all the toxic things you've heard about him. One day, he approaches you after class, being relentless as he asks you out yet again.
"Mattheo, it just wouldn't work," you say, trying to keep your resolve.
His eyes slowly rake over you, a smirk playing on his lips. "And why's that?"
"I've been in toxic relationships before, Mattheo. I know a walking red flag when I see one."
He chuckles, stepping closer to you, the scent of his cologne intoxicating. "Everyone says I'm a walking red flag. But, isn't red your favorite color?"
You can't help but roll your eyes, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips despite yourself. "Very clever, Mattheo. But flattery isn't going to change my mind."
Mattheo's expression softens slightly as he tilts his head, his voice lowering. "What if I promised you it wouldn't be like before? What if I told you I could be different with you?"
You hesitate, caught off guard by the sincerity in his eyes. "And what makes you think I should believe you?"
He takes your hand gently, his touch sending a shiver down your spine. "Because I've never wanted anything more in my life than to prove to you that I'm worth the risk."
You look into his eyes, searching for any sign of deceit, but all you find is sincerity. "I'll think about it," you say softly.
Mattheo's smile widens. "That's all I ask. Just give me a chance to show you that I can be more than what everyone says."
