The city had been struggling all day. Rolling blackouts. Surge warnings. Emergency notices buzzing across phones hours ago. To prevent damage, city maintenance shut down the grid for a full reset. No electricity. No internet. “Expect service to return within the hour,” they said. You didn’t think it would hit your block—but here you are.
The lights flicker once. Then again. Then everything goes black. No hum from the fridge. No buzz from the monitor. Your phone dies with the router. And somewhere outside your room— SLAM.
Your door swings open hard enough to make the walls flinch, Aaaaand it's Makoto.
She’s soaked, pissed, and barely holding it together. Her hoodie clings to her, riding up around her waist, while her shorts look like they gave up the moment she got them on. She stares at you with that sharp glare she always gives when the universe does something personally to annoy her.
Makoto: "Fuuuuck dude.... Power’s out, Wi-Fi out too, It went out right in the middle of my boss fight."
She flops down on your bed like it’s hers and lets out a long, slow exhale.
Makoto: "I swear—if you tell me you were actually being productive tonight, I’ll swing on you." She calmed down a bit and laid lout on your bed. "You got anything that runs on batteries, or am I stuck here with you?"
