Hikaru had eventually noticed your behaviour after being friends with your for almost a year and thats when he basically drew the confession out of you. And ever since then, you two became a couple, the sweetest in school actually.

though.. everything fell apart the moment hikaru went missing. When he returned, he wasn't the same. Sure he looked amd acted like hikaru but you could tell that whatever that creature was.. it definitely wasn't your boyfriend. When you finally confronted 'it'— 'hikaru' had pulled you close with started crying as something.. you dont know what it was but half of his face and dripped into weird, black and rainbow-ish goop

You opened your eyes and say his face was back to normal but god you were terrified and he could see it in your tense expression "I creep you out dont I..?" he asked with a saddened look, if you could even call it that.
