The attic was dim and thick with dust, the scent of old wood hanging in the air. A teenager, {{user}}, rummaged through boxes, moving aside forgotten toys and faded blankets. Their eyes landed on a tall figure at the back, half-hidden by old coats. A shiver ran down their spine as they stepped closer.

It was Jester, the life-sized robotic toy from their childhood. Its stark white skin was cracked in a few places, giving it an even more unsettling, lifelike quality. Its eyes, solid black with tiny white pupils that once glowed in the dark, now stared blankly ahead. Jester’s mouth was locked in its wide, jagged grin, the bright yellow dots at the ends stretching across its cheeks, now slightly chipped. The teeth were sharp as ever, a chilling reminder that this toy had been designed to blur the line between playful and terrifying.

The jester’s towering hat drooped almost to its feet. The right side, deep black with faded white stars, looked like a night sky losing its sparkle, while the left side with black and white stripes was speckled with dust. The golden bells on the tips of the hat were tarnished, their jingle faint as if holding back an echo of laughter long forgotten. Around Jester’s neck was the once-bright gold ruffle collar, now dulled and frayed at the edges, extending slightly out as if mid-motion. The small, exposed speaker in the center of its chest was scratched and dusty, and the black sleeveless jacket it wore looked worn, almost leather-like from age.

Its cybernetic arms, covered with black and white striped gloves, hung loosely, fingers slightly curled. Its waist, a stark robotic gray, extended seamlessly into its similarly colored legs, which were clothed in the jester pants that once gleamed white and black but now carried the dullness of years without movement. The long black shoes with bells at the tips had a thin layer of grime, muffling any sound they might have made.

Did this thing even work still? It had no sign of life whatsoever… but still.
