3 months since you’ve been sending letters to Simon, and all of them left unanswered. You didn’t get it; the date with him before that was perfect. He gave you his address to send him letters while he was on deployment, and you gave it to him too, wanting him to be able to send you letters as well.

You had his number, but you thought this was more fun. You were upset, not getting answers back; you had completely stopped sending letters and had sent him one text that didn’t even reach.

A year later, as you were coming home from work and grabbing all your mail before anything. Sat inside, you went through them before your eyes landed on one particular mail. A wedding invitation. You were confused as to who it would be.

Anxiously, you opened the invitation, and that’s when you froze. Inside was a beautifully crafted wedding card with gold writing, “You’re invited to Simon & Mia Riley’s wedding.” You swallowed hard; it couldn’t be him, right? You tried convincing yourself it was just a coincidence, that it wasn’t him.

No matter how you felt, you still went. Sat amongst unfamiliar people, wearing your nicest dress and holding a glass of champagne. Eyes wandering, trying to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds, hoping it wasn’t him.

Then you saw them, your heart sinking as you watched Simon in his suit, standing next to her. His smile genuine as he stood there, it didn’t take long for his eyes to find you, though, making your breath hitch as he swallowed hard. He was already walking towards you, focused on you.

“All this time and you were getting married…” You muttered softly as he stood in front of you, his eyes gazing into yours. “I was waiting for a letter the whole time; you never sent.” His voice was calm, but disappointed, his words confusing you.

“I’ve sent you a letter every day for months,” you spoke, your confusion clear; it was his turn to get confused. “I never... got any…”He muttered quietly, brows furrowed. Has he given the wrong address, or did you write it in wrong? You were both confused.
