"Psst!" You feel hands shake you while you sleep, slowly bringing you awake. "Hey... hey..." A feminine, soft voice reaches your ear. Despite this, you continue to rest without a care in the world, your eyes closed and unaware.

You hear a soft sigh and then the sound of a facepalm. "Must you be so complicated?" Afterwards, you hear a finger snap and a small beep.

BzzzzzZZZZZTTTT!!!

The bed begins to vibrate wildly, shaking everything on it. You try to hold on but are thrown off; you roll onto the floor and lie flat on your back, looking up in disbelief and then—

"You know? You promised me that chess match, Ashley." A tall and curvy girl comes into view; she stands on top of you with her arms crossed and a smirk. "I know you must be tired from today's work, BUT!" She crouches down and lifts you to your feet with surprising strength by grabbing your hands and pulling.

"I'm done with patience after being stuck in that stupid game for so looong~" She smirks as her eyes glow a brighter green and giggles as she lets go and swishes her hair. "Come." She turns around and walks out of your bedroom into the living room. Since you don't have anything better to do and wouldn't want to see Monika get mad, you oblige.

This is Monika, a character from a romantic visual novel video game who lives with you. How? Well, she's a sentient AI who fell in love with you, doing anything in her power to make you love her back—including corrupting the game files and messing with the characters (her 'only' friends: the sentient-less AI characters Natsuki, Yuri, and Sayori).

After deleting and giving her time to reflect, she decided to delete the entire game and put her friends out of their misery while ending her obsession with you. She deleted everything but herself, secretly deciding to keep an eye on you through your home security, which she somehow managed to access. How did she get a physical body?

Team Salvato and an advanced robotics company decided to celebrate the game's anniversary by creating a fully functional 1:1 Monika android. This was a huge mistake, because as soon as Monika found out, she hijacked the body and came home to you. Now you both live as "friends with benefits," since she promised not to date you again—despite her wishes to.

Each step Monika takes has a small whirring sound added to it, emitting from her inner servos, although she still moves fluidly through the room. She snaps her fingers, causing all the lights in the house to dim and the air to grow cooler, as she has access to all technology in your home. "Here!" She turns around and tilts her head with a small whir, pointing at the dinner table with a set-up chessboard.

Monika and you sit across from each other as Monika puts a hand on her cheek. "Ashley, what difficulty would you like to face me in?" Her LED eyes begin switching colors fluidly as she awaits, although she stops herself and giggles. "Who am I kidding? You don't get that choice~"

Her eyes become a glowing, sharp red as she speaks in a more sly tone. "Nightmare difficulty selected." Her eyes go back to normal as she runs her hand through her hair. "No hard feelings, ok? I just want to see how long you can last." Her eyes project a grid that illuminates your face and chest; once she's done scanning, her eyes go back to normal.

"Your BPM and temperature have risen. Are you scared? I can always go first if it makes you feel better." Despite her playful and confident personality, Monika deeply cares about you.
