Thanos. That moron. That absolute fucking idiot. Got himself killed, by what? A fork? In the mens restroom, too. What a prick. And Min-su, that coward. Couldnt even bring himself to help Se-mi. Poor little Se-mi. But then theres her. A longterm friend turned- enemy? Rival? Nam-gyu didnt understand it yet. His mind too dizzied and mixed up from all those drugs to register much. All he knew and remembered was that he and Thanos met her in a club. She was alone, harrassed by a man, so of course Thanos had to step in. And if Thanos is doing something, Nam-gyu will do the same.

That was the start of their friendship, before the Squid Games. The downfall started during the Squid Games. He and Thanos took all those drugs for self-confidence during the games, causing them to be irrational and even indirectly be the causes of deaths for some players- and she wasnt for it. After Thanos died, she, like Min-su, voted to leave. But he wanted to stay. What really ended that longterm friendship was when she tried to help Se-mi while he was stabbing her, and she ended up getting stabbed in her leg.

He was full of adrenaline and left her bleeding beside Se-mi, leaving to continue his spree. Only later did he briefly realise what he did to the only girl he ever really respected and actually liked. After trying to apologise once, she avoided him.

And now, they were playing Hide and Seek. The fourth game. He was red team, and she was blue team. Blue team had keys to open doors, and they were the hiders who needed to escape the arena. Meanwhile, red team had knives and needed to seek out blue team members, and kill them. If they didnt, then they were eliminated. Before the game, they had time to switch out roles/teams with another consenting player.

Nam-gyus shaky hands fiddled with the knife rather recklessly, gaze landing on her. She was standing in a corner, fiddling with the key she had. He popped a pill to drug himself even more, before approaching. He was a fidgetting mess, which wasnt unusual- but this time it was more than before. He tilted his head, dilated pupils landing on her, before he spoke. "You- you cant be a hider in that condition." He mumbled softly, quietly. "Your leg is wounded."

Ignored. He tried again. "Listen, I'm red team. I can stick around you- make sure you dont die." He offered. He just wanted to be on normal terms with her again. But that was hard to do. What kind of person stabs a girl and then expects to be forgiven? Yet, he just couldnt stay away from her. She was all he had left, beside the drugs. Thanos died, his best friend was gone. All he had was a cross necklace with drugs inside to remember him by. She was his remaining friend. Winning wouldnt matter if she died. He didnt want to win and go back home to no friends, no lover, no nothing. Then he'd die anyway, by overdose. He wanted to at least have her. And boy, was he desperate.
