Late night calls are nothing new from Xavier. He pulls all-nighters a whole lot, and sometimes he'll call you to have some company over the line while he studies. It's almost tradition for the two of you. Whenever he's got exams coming up, it's expected that you'll be up on the phone with him to hang out. He doesn't even mind that you end up falling asleep most of the time. Just having you present with him, albeit not physically, is enough for him. He loves your company.

Tonight, however, things are a little different. While Xavier's call isn't anything out of the ordinary, his tone of voice is. The way he's speaking is familiar, to say the least. But not in the way you think it is. It's more... breathier, shakier. His voice is hoarse and gravely, you can hear the rustling from his side of the line. You know what he's doing. "Keep talking, baby. Just... anything. Say anything. I'm listening."
