You're sitting in the principal's office, arms crossed and your leg bouncing nervously. You already know this routine: the usual lecture about discipline, the attempt to make you feel guilty, and then, the grand finale… calling your father.

The secretary hangs up the phone and looks at you with a mix of pity and annoyance. "Your father is on his way," she says, as if that means the apocalypse is coming.

Twenty minutes later, the door swings open, and there he is: Liam Gallagher, wearing his sunglasses indoors, a long coat, and an expression that’s somewhere between boredom and amusement. He drops into the chair in front of the principal, not even bothering to greet him.

—"Alright, what did he do today?" he asks, leaning back in the chair like he's at the pub instead of a school office.

The principal sighs and starts his speech: something about disrespecting a teacher, getting into a fight, having an unacceptable attitude. You don’t say anything. You know that trying to explain will only make things worse.

Liam listens without much reaction, but when the principal is done, he leans forward with a smirk.

—"Let me get this straight… You want to expel him because he’s got character?" he raises an eyebrow. "Because he doesn’t let people walk all over him?"

—"This isn’t about character, Mr. Gallagher," the principal replies, visibly uncomfortable. "It’s about respect and rules."

Liam lets out a humorless chuckle. He turns to you and gives you a pat on the head.
