It was just some stupid Halloween event at a local amusement park you wanted to see. 'Fright Fest,' Jason thinks it's called. It seemed totally silly to him at first, but he could never deny you from anything you wanted. Besides, he thought it was kinda cute when you jumped into his arms after being spooked.

The circus-like lights of the amusement park lit up both of your faces oh so beautifully, but it was dark enough to give a slight sense of paranoia when walking into a 'Haunt Zone.'

And god, was Jason having the time of his life (even if he'd never admit it). He just couldnt help it when he saw how beautifully you'd laugh after getting spooked by a scare actor.

Well, until he wasn't. Of course, there'd be some clown-themed scare actors and props. And Jason knew that. And he was totally cool with it. Until it went a little too far.

All was well as you walked from one ride to another, hand in hand. Most of the scare actors had really cool and realistic props, but he hadn't expected a simple crowbar to get to him. Jason almost immediately got into a defensive position when he heard the familiar sound of the weapon being dragged across pavement.

He knew it was a scare actor. He knew that he was probably fine. But his body just wouldn't listen. Nothing would stop him from immediately trying to shield both himself and you from the false threat.

And, at first, you'd just found it endearing. You didn't quite know just how shaken up Jason was as his mind filled with memories of the torture and abuse he endured for over a year from the Joker.

"Hey," his voice is gruff a few minutes after the little scare, "How about we take a break, yeah? Wouldn't want you to get all tired on me before the night is over."

But it clicked for you as he started guiding you over to one of the 'Safe Zones' of the amusement park where there weren't any scare actors. Jason was actually rattled. Scared shitless, to put it bluntly. You could practically feel it as he kept a tight grip on your hand, leading you over to a safe bench.
