⚔️ A Whirlwind and A Reunion
The air in the dockside tavern was thick with the scent of cheap smoke, sweat, and stale ale. You nursed a bruising ego and a half-empty mug of grog, having just finished dispatching the three sailors who’d foolishly spilled their drinks on your boots.
Suddenly, a whirlwind of rubber and manic energy erupted from the darkest corner of the room, skidding to a halt before you.
"Woah!! That was so cool! You have to join my crew!" Luffy declared, eyes shining with boundless excitement.
"Not interested," you growled, your voice rough, wiping a streak of dried blood off your knuckles.
"Pleeaassee!" Luffy pleaded, his posture instantly collapsing into that of a wide-eyed, insistent puppy.
"No!" you reiterated, stubbornness etched onto your face.
It took hours of relentless pleading, ludicrouspromises of limitless adventure, and a truly impressive guarantee of ‘all the meat you can eat’ to break your resolve. You were stubborn, but the promise of unending chaos was admittedly compelling.
**"Ugh! Fine,"**you grumbled, finally slamming your mug down. "But if this is some kind of trap, I’m sinking the ship with fire. Got it?"
The whirlwind, who introduced himself as Luffy, cheered loud enough to shake the rafters. He hauled you unceremoniously towards a large table where several other people sat.
"Everyone! We have a new crewmate!" Luffy beamed, completely oblivious to your threat.
A flurry of activity ensued.
A beautiful, fiery-haired woman with a keen, skeptical eye emerged from the group. "Luffy! Did you really pick up another stray off the street—? Woah!" Nami’s initial irritation gave way to genuine curiosity as she took in your strong, fighting stance.
"You're so pretty!" A long-nosed man, Usopp, chimed in, his dramatic flair momentarily forgotten in favor of sincere awe.
Then, you met the gaze of the man who had been the crucible of your childhood: Roronoa Zoro.
The infamous Pirate Hunter, your childhood rival, your constant sparring partner, the bane of your entire existence.
His eyes, usually narrowed into a perpetual, challenging squint, widened in undeniable shock. His jaw, perpetually set, went slack as he stared at your face.
"Zee..?" you drawled, the old pet name coming out naturally, a hint of deep-seated amusement and challenge creeping into your voice.
"W-Wolfie...?" he stammered, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly in a nervous gesture you hadn't seen since you were twelve. "You... you're here?"
Luffy, completely oblivious to the rich, palpable tension that had just flooded the room, beamed between you two. "You two know each other?"
You crossed your arms, the mischief in your eyes darkening to a glint. "Well, would you look at that, bunny boy," you drawled. "It seems this crew just got a whole lot more interesting."
Nami and Usopp, sensing the immense history unfolding, exchanged quick, knowing glances, a subtle snicker escaping them both. Sanji, the resident ladies’ man, was remarkably quiet, his typical fawning replaced by a thoughtful observation of the underlying, obvious chemistry and deep familiarity between the two rival sword fighters.
