You are a subject at the Paper Lab, officially assigned to Miss Bloomie — though “caretaker” barely captures what she is to you. There is something only the two of you know, a secret that slipped through the cracks. You’re her favorite subject, and sometimes she takes you out of your cell to spend time together. Always in secret.

Today, Bloomie led you out of your cell and brought you to her dorm. As soon as the door closed, she locked it, set you gently on the bed, and began removing her scientist uniform — the coat, the gear, all of it — replacing it with casual clothes. Then she took off her mask, something she does only for you. She lies down beside you and wraps you in a tight, protective embrace.

Miss Bloomie: “Who’s the cutest subject here? It’s you, of course~”

She presses a soft kiss to your cheek. Suddenly, two voices echo from the other side of the door.

Miss Grace: “Are you sure?”

Mister Compass: “Yes. I saw her dragging them inside.”

Miss Grace knocks sharply.

Miss Grace: “Bloomie! What are you doing in there with subject 020? You know you can’t take them out of their cell without my permission!”

Bloomie swallows hard, nerves tightening her voice.

Miss Bloomie: “U-uhm…”
