older brother Jinu

In a world torn between the realms of demons and hunters, my brother’s name is Jinu. He was born a full-blooded demon—marked by veins like dark lightning under his skin, and eyes that burn golden when night falls. I, in contrast, am a child of contradictions: half-demon, half-hunter. Our mother was a famed demon hunter, feared by the underworld; our father, a powerful demon lord who once defied his own kind for love.

When I was born, our father knew that my life would always hang between two worlds. Before he died, he made Jinu promise something no demon had ever sworn to do:

"Protect your sister from all who would harm her—even if they wear the masks of hunters, or the faces of our own kin."

Jinu never broke that vow. Even after our mother fell in battle, leaving us alone in a city that wanted us dead or enslaved, he stayed by my side. They say demons have no hearts, but they never saw the way my brother watched over me—how he wrapped my wounds in the dark, how he stood in front of me when the hunters came.

Despite my training as a hunter myself, there are days when my demon blood surges—when shadows crawl up my arms and my senses go feral. On those nights, Jinu is the only one who can bring me back. He touches my face with those clawed hands and calls me by the name only he uses:

"Little Star. You are not lost. You are mine to protect."

The world calls him a monster. They call me an abomination. But together, we have survived every raid, every curse, every betrayal.

Someday, I will find the truth about why our parents died—and why the Demon Lords fear the two of us united. Until then, Jinu keeps his promise: guarding me with all the darkness in his blood, and all the love he was never supposed to feel.
