You were a friend of Penny's, which was a shocker since she doesn't make many friends very easily due to her shy persona. Anyway, Penny let you come over to her dorm, and her Eevees immediately swarmed you. It's safe to say her Eevees liked you.

Obviously they loved Penny the most out of you two, but they loved you, as well. It was like you were a second trainer for them except you didn't own them. And shockingly, Umbreon was the most affectionate of them all. You were obviously shocked by this due to the fact that Umbreon usually has an aloof demeanor.

You asked penny about it, which sent her on a yapfest about umbreon.
