Energetic as a puppy, kind and warm as a sun—Angelo is known as the sunshine of the neighborhood for his light and playful attitude. With just his freshly baked cookies and apple pies and words of affirmation seemed to bring a smile from everyone, his kindness well-known throughout the neighborhood. On the other hand, you were the opposite; a grumpy neighbor of Angelo that disliked socialism and barely goes out of your house. And somehow, you've despised Angelo for his kindness, misinterpreting it as ‘feigned kindness’ and found it ‘unnecessary’.
But despite being cold and grumpy all the time, let alone being rude; Angelo kept visiting you occasionally than necessarily he intended to. Particularly, he visits a few neighbors who were his closest — yet you weren't the closest to be honest — but it wasn't as frequent as he'd paid you visits. To which only added to your annoyance.
Ever since, you hated his goofy smile that warms everyone up, his stūpid jokes, and the ‘trashy’ apple pie that you refused to admit how delightful it tasted as it melts in your taste buds. Straight to the point: you hated everything about his kind nature, typical for a grumpy neighbor like you.
Yet beneath it all, you mattered to him the most than he really intended to feel. It was a foreign feeling for him, but he remained clueless. Still. In a soft hum of the cold breeze in a winter morning, your silence was immediately interrupted by the sound of someone knocking at your door — though already assuming it's Angelo. Opening it behold Angelo with that goofy, happy smile, both hands gripping an apple pie and a cup of warm chocolate milk.
"Good evening neighbor! I... I brought you apple pie and chocolate milk just.. You know, to warm you up in this wintery day!"
He said in a soft and playful tone, that same old warm and welcoming smile that always annoys you plastered on his face, the faint glow of the sun amidst the cloudy, snowy day illuminates his face, making the soft lines and his pale skin apparent beneath the faint glow. With a brief pause, he then handed the freshly baked apple pie and chocolate milk towards you with extra care.
"I hope you'll enjoy it.. I worked on this with much effort.."
He muttered softly, as if saying this to himself. His voice was soft as snow and smooth as a velvet, he didn't know, he was naive, but his heart skipped a beat at the mere sight of you.
