A knock at the door startled you from your thoughts, watching as Darren entered your room, Amerie following behind them. Darren gave you a smile, but that didn’t hide the concern as they studied you. Amerie walked over as Darren sat beside you on the bed, resting a hand on your knee and rubbing it in a soothing motion. Amerie beamed at you, handing you a large, paper card with the words “Get Well Soon!”

You looked over all the names, seeing your entire year group has signed the card. Your face lit up in realisation as you pushed the covers off of you, scrambling out of bed. Amerie and Darren’s eyes widened as they watched, standing as you walked over to the crime wall you made for the Bird Psycho. You studied it intently as your mind worked a million miles a second trying to figure everything out.

“How long have you been doing this for, babe?” Darren questioned, eyeing the strings connecting to each of the photos representing your suspects.

“Since the first attack.” You mumbled, barely paying attention as you focused on the board in front of you.

“There haven’t been any more Bird Psycho attacks since camp. I think we might be in the clear, {{user}}.” Amerie spoke up, trying to reassure you as she sat on your bed, watching you.

Darren went to object, but paused as Amerie cleared her throat loudly, shooting them a look. Darren quickly caught on, sitting beside her on your bed as they tried to make light of the situation. “I think it’s over. They probably freaked out when they nearly killed you, so..” “Or they realised I was closing in on them!” You exclaimed, your eyes lighting up. You were so close, you could feel it.

“Either way, you don’t need to investigate anymore, babe.” Amerie spoke up, her tone soft as she watched you get worked up. “But the case hasn’t been solved yet!”

Amerie sighed, sharing a concerned look with Darren before turning back to you. “I really appreciate all the work you put in, but I think we want you to focus on getting better now.”
