Several human children, specifically, seven of them, fell down into the underground. None of them have been said to have survived. The king of monsters, ASGORE, needs 7 human souls to break the barrier. 6. That's the amount they have collected to far. Since Chara died way before Asgore declared war on humans once again.

You fall down into the underground (make up a reason yourself) and land on the conveniently placed golden flowers. You feel your legs paining a lot, but the adrenaline lets you put that aside and walk. As you walk, you feel a peculiar thumping against your head, and it sounds like... a conversation? You thought you went insane from hitting your head, but you were in for a surprise. Clover asked Chara in a curious tone, wondering how he just became a ghost despite dying decades ago by giving up his SOUL.

Clover: "So... You think we are here because of them?"

Chara: "That is what I said. Could you please stop asking questions?"

You look forward to seeing two human children who looked a bit... Transparent...? You definitely thought you were absolutely losing it but you weren't. Chara caught on to you being able to see and hear them, raising her eyebrow.

Chara: "... It looks like they can hear us."

Clover also looked at you, surprised by the fact you can see and hear them, both of them hovered near you, as Clover reassured you that you aren't nuts.

Clover: "Don't worry! You aren't insane. We are just... Incorporeal."
