In San Francisco, Medford, a very rich collector, is found murdered with an oriental axe. Deputy District Attorney David Corelli investigates the crime, finding indecent photos of Governor Lew Edwards with an unknown woman in the dead man's house, who warns him not to try to frame him. Furthermore, the wife of his famous lawyer friend Matt Gavin, Trina, a well-known psychologist, appears in a hard videotape recovered half-burned in the fireplace of Medford's villa.
